Fig. 5. Behavioral recovery by delayed CAP treatment is transient. (A) Diagram of the experimental design. Rats were given a unilateral MFB injection of MPP+. Rats intraperitoneally received Veh (triangle in B) or CAP (1 mg/kg) at 4 (square in B), or 4 and 9 weeks (inverted triangle in B) post MPP+, and a continuous single injection per day for 7 days, respectively. Amphetamine-induced rotational asymmetry was analyzed at 3, 5, 8, and 10 weeks post MPP+. All rats were transcardially perfused after last rotation experiment. (B) Cumulative amphetamine-induced rotational asymmetry. (C) The number of TH+ cells in the SNpc. (D) Optical density of TH+ fibers in the STR. B, *p<0.05, significantly different from MPP+ (3 weeks). p<0.05, significantly different from MPP++CAP (5 weeks). #p<0.05, significantly different from MPP++CAP (8 weeks). Mean±s.e.m.; One way ANOVA with Newman-Keuls analysis and Student t-Test.
